The ideal candidate for this position is a B.Sc in well surveying / Petroleum Engineering or equivalent discipline. 15 years experience in the Petroleum industry with the last 10 years in well surveying & directional drilling is desired.
1. Interact with Asset and Drilling teams to make sure errors and uncertainties in depth Control and Well Positioning are taken into account during the preparations of realistic Well targets in particular for extended reach Wells, which may require detailed (and costly) Well surveying, Review cost – benefits in moderating the target tolerance accordingly.
2. Integrate well-positioning error models developed by the Industry Steering Committee for well bore Survey Accuracy (ICSWSA) with 3D Earth Models to investigate well targeting tolerance and survey uncertainties.
3. Provide anti collision assurance during the well planning stage, by reference to the Corporate Well Position Database and advising on anti –collision Procedures.
4. Advice on when and how to update backlog of legacy date and optimally re-survey old wells.
5. Advice on appropriate computer hardware & software for interpretation, processing and storage of well survey data, such as COMPASS & BGGM. Assess developments in computerized well survey evaluation and recommend applications of suitable programs, liaising with IT and Data Management specialists as requires.
The incumbent must be computer literate and possess very good knowledge of written and verbal, English and must be experienced in using BGGM, Compass, Finder and Excel Software.
